The artist is best known for her dramatic
renderings of the sea, which she developed an intense love for
when she was young and lived in "unspoiled" Hawaii. Her handling
of color and light is evident in her works, and she is considered
a colorist of the first rank. Though proficient in all media,
her first love is oils. "It seems the one medium capable
of expressing the dignity and power we find so often in nature."
As a "Plein
Aire" painter
for over 25 years, Roberta endeavors to capture the wonder
and beauty of her beloved Southwest. Her paintings encompass
the Pacific Coast, from La Jolla Shores, to the California Mountains,
the deserts of Arizona, and the skies of New Mexico. She strives
to capture the essence of a moment in time. She has a great love
of nature, often finding inspiration in her own garden, beside
her koi pond or among the old live oak trees there.
Her work
may be found in corporate and private collections throughout
the Unites States, Canada, Spain and Europe. Her
artistic philosophy: "My
art is an extension of myself, my ideas, emotions, and dreams." Her
most sincere wish is to continue growing and expressing herself
through her art.
